Step 1: Check Your Hosting Plan #
Before you begin, ensure that your current hosting plan supports multiple domains. Typically, this feature is available on Standard, Premium, and Business plans.
How to Verify: #
- Log in to your hPanel Dashboard at ozspeed.com.au.
- Go to My Services and review your plan details.
- Look for the feature that states “Add-on Domains” or “Multiple Domain Hosting”.
Tip: #
- If your plan does not support multiple domains, consider upgrading to a higher-tier plan.
Step 2: Register or Add Your New Domain #
You can either register a new domain or add an existing one that you own.
Option 1: Register a New Domain #
- In hPanel, go to Domains > Register New Domain.
- Enter the desired domain name and complete the registration process.
Option 2: Add an Existing Domain #
- Click on Domains > Add New Domain.
- Enter the domain name you want to host and click Add Domain.
Tip: #
- Ensure your domain’s nameservers are set to OzSpeed’s nameservers (e.g., ns1.ozspeed.com.au, ns2.ozspeed.com.au).
Step 3: Create an Add-on Domain #
An add-on domain is a separate domain that you can host on the same account but has its own website and content.
How to Create an Add-on Domain: #
- Go to Domains > Add-on Domains in hPanel.
- Enter the domain name (e.g., newsite.com).
- Choose the Document Root (the folder where the website files will be stored, e.g., /public_html/newsite).
- Click Create Domain.
Tip: #
- The document root should be a unique folder to keep the files separate from your primary domain.
Step 4: Set Up DNS Records #
For your new domain to work correctly, you need to update the DNS records.
How to Update DNS Records: #
- Go to Domains > DNS Zone Editor.
- Add or edit the following DNS records:
- A Record: Points the domain to your server’s IP address.
- CNAME Record: Points subdomains (e.g., www) to your main domain.
Tip: #
- DNS changes may take up to 24-48 hours to propagate globally.
Step 5: Install WordPress or Another CMS (Optional) #
If you want to build a new website for your additional domain, you can use the Auto Installer in hPanel.
How to Install WordPress: #
- Go to Website > Auto Installer.
- Select WordPress and click Install.
- Choose the new domain from the dropdown menu.
- Complete the installation process.
Tip: #
- You can use the same process to install other CMS platforms like Joomla or Drupal.
Step 6: Enable SSL for the New Domain #
To secure your new domain, enable an SSL certificate.
How to Enable SSL: #
- Go to Domains > SSL.
- Select the new domain and click Install SSL.
- Follow the prompts to enable HTTPS.
Tip: #
- Enable HTTPS redirection to ensure all traffic to the new domain is encrypted.
Step 7: Create Email Accounts for the New Domain (Optional) #
If you want to use email addresses with your new domain (e.g., info@newsite.com), set up email accounts.
How to Create Email Accounts: #
- Go to Email > Email Accounts in hPanel.
- Click Create New Account.
- Enter the email address and set a password.
Tip: #
- Use the Webmail feature to access your email or set up email clients like Outlook.
Step 8: Monitor Resource Usage #
Hosting multiple domains can increase your usage of CPU, RAM, and disk space. Regularly check your resource usage to ensure optimal performance.
How to Monitor Usage: #
- Go to Analytics > Resource Usage in hPanel.
- Review CPU, RAM, bandwidth, and disk space usage.
Tip: #
- If you notice high resource usage, consider optimizing your websites or upgrading your hosting plan.
Additional Tips: #
- Separate Websites: Use unique document roots for each domain to keep the files organized and prevent conflicts.
- Regular Backups: Set up automated backups for each domain to ensure you can recover your data in case of issues.
- SEO Considerations: If you are hosting multiple websites, ensure each site has its own unique content to avoid SEO penalties.
