Deleting an unnecessary or outdated page can help improve your website’s navigation and user experience. This guide will walk you through the process step by step.

Step 4: Update the Navigation Menu #
If the deleted page was part of your navigation menu, you need to update the menu to remove the broken link.
In Website Builder: #

- Click on the link to the deleted page and click Remove.

In WordPress: #
- Go to Appearance > Menus.

- Test your navigation menu after updating it to ensure there are no broken links.
Step 5: Set Up a Redirect (Optional) #
If the deleted page had external links or was indexed by search engines, consider setting up a 301 redirect to guide visitors to a related page and prevent a “404 Not Found” error.
How to Set Up a Redirect: #
- In hPanel, go to Advanced > Redirects.
- Enter the URL of the deleted page and the URL of the new or related page.
- Choose 301 Permanent Redirect and click Add Redirect.
Tip: #
- Use a plugin like Redirection in WordPress to manage redirects easily.
Step 6: Clear Your Website Cache #
To ensure the deleted page no longer appears to visitors, clear your website cache.
How to Clear Cache: #
- In hPanel, go to Performance > Caching.
- Click Clear All Cache.
- Clear your browser cache as well.
Tip: #
- Use an incognito window to verify that the page is no longer accessible.
Step 7: Test the Website #
After deleting the page and updating the navigation menu, test your website to make sure everything is working correctly.
Testing Checklist: #
- Check the Navigation Menu: Ensure that there are no broken links.
- Visit the Deleted Page URL: Verify that it shows a “404 Not Found” error or redirects correctly if you set up a redirect.
- Test on Mobile Devices: Check that the menu and links work properly on both desktop and mobile devices.
Tip: #
- Use a link checker tool to find any remaining links pointing to the deleted page.
Troubleshooting Tips #

- Clear the website cache and your browser cache.
- Ensure you saved the changes in the page editor.
- Broken Links After Deleting a Page:
- Update the navigation menu and any internal links pointing to the deleted page.
