Step 1: Log In to hPanel #
- Go to ozspeed.com.au and click on “Client Login”.
- Enter your account credentials (email and password) to access the hPanel Dashboard.
Step 2: Navigate to Resource Usage #
- In the hPanel Dashboard, click on “Analytics” or “Resource Usage” under the Website section.
- You will be directed to a summary page displaying key metrics related to your hosting plan’s resource usage.
Step 3: Review CPU and RAM Usage #
- Click on the CPU/RAM Usage tab to view your site’s current and historical usage data.
- The graph shows the CPU load and RAM consumption over time.
What to Look For: #
- High CPU Usage: Consistently high CPU usage can indicate a plugin conflict, a surge in traffic, or poorly optimized scripts.
- RAM Spikes: High RAM usage may be due to heavy processes or large database queries.
Tip: #
- If your CPU or RAM usage frequently reaches the limit, consider optimizing your site or upgrading your hosting plan.
Step 4: Check Bandwidth Usage #
- Go to the Bandwidth tab to view your data transfer statistics.
- The graph displays your site’s bandwidth usage over time, including both incoming and outgoing traffic.
What to Look For: #
- Sudden Spikes: Large, unexpected increases in bandwidth usage can indicate a DDoS attack, a surge in traffic, or large file downloads/uploads.
- Approaching the Limit: If your bandwidth usage is nearing the plan’s limit, consider upgrading or implementing a content delivery network (CDN) to reduce load.
Step 5: Monitor Disk Space Usage #
- Click on the Disk Usage tab to see a breakdown of your storage consumption.
- The overview shows how much space is used by:
- Website Files (public_html folder)
- Databases
- Emails
- Backups
What to Look For: #
- Full Disk Space: If your storage is almost full, clean up unused files, delete old backups, or consider upgrading your storage.
- Large Files: Use the File Manager to locate and manage large files that may be consuming excessive disk space.
Tip: #
- Regularly delete unused themes, plugins, and media files to free up space.
Step 6: Check Inode Usage #
- In the Resource Usage section, find the Inode Usage tab.
- Inodes represent the total number of files and folders in your hosting account.
What to Look For: #
- High Inode Usage: A high inode count can slow down your website and affect performance. Consider cleaning up unnecessary files and emails.
Step 7: Analyze Traffic and Performance #
- Click on the Traffic Analytics tab to view detailed visitor statistics, including:
- Page Views
- Unique Visitors
- Top Referrers
- Use the Performance tab to see real-time data on server response times and page load speed.
Tip: #
- Use this data to identify traffic patterns and optimize your content strategy.
Step 8: Set Up Alerts for Resource Limits #
- In the Settings section of Resource Usage, enable email notifications for resource limits.
- This feature will notify you if your usage exceeds a certain threshold, helping you take action before it impacts your website.
Additional Tips: #
- Optimize Your Site: Use caching, compress images, and optimize database queries to reduce resource usage.
- Upgrade Your Plan: If you frequently hit resource limits, consider upgrading to a higher-tier hosting plan.
- Use a CDN: Implementing a content delivery network (CDN) like Cloudflare can reduce bandwidth usage and improve load times.
